In this role, you will directly contribute to the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of modern home construction by getting our homes approved with permits from various cities.. Your work will have a tangible impact on Veev’s ability to scale operations and drive industry-wide change.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Planning Manager to join our Homesite Development team at Veev. This role is essential in driving the success of our projects by managing the permitting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordinating design efforts with architects, engineers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of architectural drawings, permitting strategies, and code compliance to effectively streamline project timelines while maximizing customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Project Initiation: Collaborate with the team to kick off new projects and define goals and timelines.
• Permitting Strategy: Evaluate and determine the best strategy for permitting, including options like third-party reviews or external permit teams.
• Regulatory Compliance: Review code and regulatory requirements to identify the optimal path for permitting and establish a realistic timeline.
• Design Oversight: Provide direction to design teams, aligning designs with Veev best practices, budget constraints, and customer experience goals.
• Plan Preparation: Assist with the completion of local plan sets, ensuring readiness for submission to relevant authorities.
• Documentation Management: Complete all necessary paperwork required for project submission and ensure accuracy in all submissions.
• Plan Check Coordination: Work closely with the Architect to address and resolve plan check comments efficiently.
• Permit Finalization: Handle all final paperwork, payments, and documentation to ensure timely receipt of permits.
• Drawing Literacy: Interpret and analyze architectural drawings and plans with precision and understanding.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

• Bachelors Degree in Architecture or related field
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles and permitting processes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical documents.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with architects, reviewers, and other team members.

Compensation

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $140,000 - $160,000 annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
