Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the production activities on a designated shift. This role ensures that manufacturing operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company quality standards and production goals. The Shift Manager will lead a team of production managers, manage shift schedules, and address any issues that arise during the shift to maintain optimal workflow and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production employees, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
    • Conduct shift briefings, assign tasks, and monitor performance to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
    • Provide training, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Production Management:
    • Oversee daily production operations, including monitoring equipment performance, managing workflow, and ensuring timely completion of production goals.
    • Address and resolve any operational issues, including equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or workforce challenges.
    • Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control:
    • Monitor product quality and ensure that manufacturing processes meet company standards and customer specifications.
    • Implement and oversee quality control measures, including regular inspections and audits.
    • Address and rectify any quality issues that arise during the shift.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain:
    • Manage inventory levels and ensure that necessary materials and supplies are available for production.
    • Coordinate with inventory and supply chain teams to address any shortages or delays.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including shift reports, incident reports, and quality control data.
    • Provide regular updates to the Production Manager/Plant Manager on shift performance, including any significant issues or achievements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new strategies and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing production challenges.
    • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in manufacturing or safety (e.g., OSHA) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing floor for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to [Insert Weight Limit] pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a factory environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
