The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sustainable Governance and Compliance Manager to join our sustainability team. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the US environmental regulations and optimize opportunities for obtaining financial benefits from CO2 credits, energy and water savings, and regulatory incentives. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our sustainability goals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance Lennar's environmental performance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the US local, regional, and national environmental regulations and standards applicable to our construction projects.
- Monitor and interpret environmental regulations and policies to ensure the company remains in compliance.
- Identify and optimize opportunities for financial and environmental benefits through CO2 credits, participation in carbon offset programs, energy and water savings initiatives, and compliance with regulatory incentives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, project management, and sustainability, to ensure environmental compliance across all projects.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
- Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and areas for improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and sustainability best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in environmental regulations, CO2 credit opportunities, and sustainability trends.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, industry groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Support the sustainability team in setting and achieving environmental performance targets.
Requirements, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Law, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Proven experience in environmental compliance, sustainability governance, and optimizing financial benefits from CO2 credits, energy and water savings, and regulatory incentives.
- Strong knowledge of US local, regional, and national environmental regulations and standards.
- Experience with environmental auditing, reporting, and documentation processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental change in the construction industry.
Advantages:
- Experience with digital tools and software for environmental compliance and reporting.
- Knowledge of green building certifications and standards, such as LEED, BREEAM, or equivalent.
- Experience in working with regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
