Job Overview

We are hiring for a Manufacturing Supervisor who will effectively manage all production employees and materials to ensure that production targets are achieved. You will oversee operational processes and ensure they are adhered to safely & efficiently, in accordance with quality standards.

The role is based at our site in Gateshead and reports directly into the Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities

In this role the Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage daily production activities ensuring that processes run smoothly and efficiently to meet production targets and avoid downtime
  • Training, coaching and development of Production Operators
  • Management responsibility for multiple teams of production operators
  • Conduct regular GK/4M audits and ensure that production employees are educated in the importance of good practice & housekeeping as an integral part of their working day
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure that the production target figures are consistently achieved
  • Identify and resolve any tooling/machinery problems
  • Monitor production metrics to ensure business KPI’s are achieved
  • Ensure customer collections are met in a timely manner and ensure product is shipped in line with their individual requirements
  • Ensure that adequate stocks of materials are available to meet daily build targets and escalation of any issues
  • Ensure a safe working environment by actively identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate control measures

The Requirements

We’re looking for candidates with the following experience and skills:

  • Demonstratable experience of working in a manufacturing or production Supervisory role, with a strong understanding of production processes and machinery
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with production management software and tools for scheduling, reporting and inventory control
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and guide a diverse team, fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Experience in medium to high volume production, working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent understanding of GK and 4M procedures
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve production issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity

Bonus Points

Desirable (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had:

  • Experience of lithium battery and motor production processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of Document Control
  • Understanding of Process Controls
  • Experience of PFMEA & Control Plans

  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise work accordingly and meet tight deadlines
  • Pro-active taking ownership of tasks given and follow through to completion with attention to detail
  • Must be able to work alone with minimum guidance but also be able to operate effectively as part of a team, tackle problems with creativity and innovation
  • Ability to mentor and train effectively, supporting development through hands-on or practical experience
  • Must display strong leadership skills and be able to engage and drive a positive high-performance culture
  • Must have an agile approach to work, Hungry for success, self-motivated, results-driven, and ambitious
