Principal Product Manager, Utility Products & Grid Services
SPAN
The Role
SPAN is hiring a Principal Product Manager, Utility Products & Grid Services reporting to the VP of Product to lead and scale our utility and grid services product offering. SPAN Panels are on the path to becoming a critical part of the electrical grid infrastructure through sensing, control, and orchestration of power and energy at the grid edge, offering cost effective non-wires alternatives to traditional service upgrades and distribution upgrades. We are looking for a product leader and visionary who brings deep utility, distribution planning, software platform, and machine learning experience to accelerate SPAN’s execution and impact to electrifying and decarbonizing our grid.
In this role, you will develop and refine the product vision and strategy, create the roadmap, and drive execution from requirements to launch and iteration working cross-functionally within SPAN and with our utility partners. You will be both a hands on product manager as well as a leader amongst the product team equally comfortable presenting to partner and utility executives as you are to grooming a backlog with engineering. You will create a vision to rally the team behind, establish innovative feature sets informed by a deep understanding of the distribution grid, your own modeling, customer research, and partner conversations. You are known for your bias for action, ability to get things done while navigating ambiguity and excellent judgement. You will be a leader amongst the product org and be expected to demonstrate and teach product best practices, amplifying your impact by building scalable product mechanisms, instilling product culture, and mentoring others. You are confident technically and not afraid to challenge system architectural decisions, algorithm approaches, or dive deep into the technical trade-offs. You earn trust by asking the right questions, rolling up your sleeves to do the work, bringing diverse perspectives, and most importantly delivering for our customers, the grid, and our mission!
This position is a unique opportunity to join on the ground floor of one of the most strategic product initiatives across SPAN.
