Role Overview
As Engineering Manager, you will lead and support Pronto’s 8-person distributed engineering team, working closely with our colocated Leadership team to deliver high-impact technology solutions. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that blends technical insight with people and process leadership
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and mutual support.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Partner with Product and executive leadership to translate business goals into technical strategy and roadmap priorities.
- Project Delivery: Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of both feature development and technical initiatives, balancing short-term execution with long-term architecture needs.
- Operational Efficiency: Own cost management across infrastructure, tooling, and third-party services, ensuring sustainable and scalable operations.
- AI Enablement: Champion the smart and ethical use of AI technologies to enhance developer productivity and product innovation.
- Process Improvement: Continuously refine development workflows, including agile practices, release management, and technical decision-making frameworks.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between engineering and other teams, facilitating transparent communication, clear expectations, and healthy prioritization of work.
Qualifications
- Technical Depth: Significant experience as a hands-on contributor (e.g., software engineer, tech lead), with the ability to evaluate code, architecture, and design trade-offs.
- Proven Leadership: At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, product-centric environment.
- Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of influencing technical direction and product outcomes across diverse stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to balance the needs of Product, Operations, Customer Success, and other departments to deliver pragmatic, well-aligned solutions.
- Execution & Adaptability: Track record of delivering projects from inception to production, with a pragmatic and flexible approach to technical challenges and team dynamics.
- Technical Environment: Familiarity with or interest in our tech stack — Python/Django, React, PostgreSQL (RDS), and AWS Lambda/serverless architectures.
