  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or manager of an engineering team.

About the Role

The Field Tooling and Safety team is a foundational team within Opendoor focused on building the tools that our team and trade partners use to manage homes. This is a unique opportunity to drive impact across the business from pre-acquisition of a home to listing that home post-renovation.

The Field Tooling and Safety team is looking for a senior software engineer to help build solutions that make it possible to better know our homes. This role will involve collaborating across functions to design, build, and release new systems that drive learnings to our business so we can better serve our customers. This full-stack role involves managing and developing essential front-end and back-end services for both our team and other teams, covering both web and mobile applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with product and design to evaluate, solution, and implement new features, driving the full development lifecycle from idea to release across the frontend and backend.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers, sharing best practices around coding and architecture that support a business at an early growth stage.
  • Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions as you work with other software engineers, UX designers, and product managers.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve development velocity and iteration speed.

Bonus points if you have

  • Expertise in the following: Javascript/TypeScript with React on the frontend, and one backend language (we use Ruby and Go).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering solutions that drive excellence for operationally intensive organizations
