About the Company

Industrious is the largest premium workplace-as-a-service provider and home to the highest-rated workplaces in the industry. Everything we do comes down to creating great days for teams of all sizes and stages, including our own. We believe that what makes a great day at work is the people on your team and the problems you get to solve together. We’re looking for people who love thinking outside the box and thrive in a truly collaborative setting. As teammates, we encourage new ideas and toast every win. We’re excited about having a meaningful impact on people’s workplace experience.

Great days also start when everyone can be their authentic self at work. Diversity of backgrounds, thoughts, and ideas is critical to our success in delivering great workplace experiences, both for our members and for each other. Industrious is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment that embraces your individuality and quirkiness. You are valued for who YOU are. We celebrate our people as individuals who can accomplish great things when we work together as one team.

The Opportunity

Industrious is at a once in a lifetime inflection point, transitioning from being a late stage growth startup to an independent business unit of the world’s largest real estate company. This next phase is all about figuring out how to make the most of the platform we’re now a part of, including nurturing our #SoIndustrious team, bringing our expertise in workplace experience to millions of people around the world, building new products, and doing it all with sustainable economics.

At Industrious, we aren’t just building workspaces; we’re building the engine that powers the future of work. We believe that infrastructure shouldn't be a bottleneck—it should be an accelerant. We are looking for a Tech Lead, DevOps Engineer who views "infrastructure as code" as an art form and thrives on the challenge of making complex systems feel invisible to the developers using them.

As the Tech Lead, you will be the primary architect of our deployment ecosystem. You won’t just be "fixing servers"; you will be designing the foundation that enables vibe coding company-wide—an environment where ideas move from an employee's brain to production with zero friction and maximum confidence.

This role is based in Montreal, Canada and is a hybrid role.

The Key Opportunities

  • Architect the "Vibe Coding" Ecosystem: Build the infrastructure and internal platform that allows our employees to create applications and leverage AI and high-level automation to accomplish tasks at the speed of thought, making their day-to-day work faster.

  • Propel Engineering Velocity: You’ll be the force multiplier for our entire dev team, automating everything from environment provisioning to testing, ensuring our team goes faster every single day.

  • Define the Strategic North Star: You will own and deliver a vision for a modern cloud-native stack that balances cutting-edge AI integration, airtight security, and radical automation.

What You’ll Do

  • Creative Architecting: Work alongside a high-caliber engineering team to architect and build deployment solutions that are as elegant as they are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.

  • System Design: Implement solutions for new and existing products that align with Industrious’ overall data strategy, ensuring that our members and employees experience zero downtime and peak performance.

  • CI/CD Orchestration: Mastermind our CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions and modern build tools to ensure a seamless flow into our AWS cloud environment.

  • Security & Health: Act as the guardian of our stack—improving application monitoring, performing regular maintenance/upgrades, and evolving our security posture to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Future-Proofing: You don’t just solve for today. You anticipate the needs of a growing global business and implement solutions that scale effortlessly.

  • Culture Building: As a Lead, you will mentor other engineers and contribute to a culture of radical transparency, continuous learning, and high-performance "vibes."

What we’re looking for:

  • An Experienced Leader: You have 7+ years of DevOps experience, with at least 2 years spent leading teams or major technical initiatives. You know how to guide a project from a whiteboard sketch to a production reality.

  • A Polyglot: You are a master of at least one programming language (Python is great, but we’re particularly excited if you speak TypeScript on Node.js).

  • Cloud Native: AWS is your playground. If you also have experience with GCP, that’s a massive bonus.

  • An IaC Purist: You believe everything should be version-controlled. You have deep experience with Terraform and Terragrunt.

  • A Distributed Systems Guru: You have strong working knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including hands-on experience with technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or comparable message brokers.

  • A Pipeline Expert: You have a proven track record of maintaining sophisticated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions experience is a plus).

  • A Collaborator: You have a "knack" for collaboration. You can translate complex infra-speak into actionable insights for product and dev teams.

  • Growth Minded: You have an insatiable desire for self-improvement and are constantly looking for ways to make your solutions—and yourself—better.

The Roadmap to Impact

We don’t believe in "onboarding" in the traditional sense. We believe in immersion. Here is how you will evolve as our Tech Lead during your first year:

The First 30 Days: Deep Immersion & Vision Casting

  • The Deep Dive: You’ll embed yourself within our engineering culture, mastering our current stack and understanding the unique pulse of our distributed systems.

  • Architectural Audit: You’ll identify the "friction points"—spotting opportunities to streamline our architecture and enhance our security posture.

  • Drafting the North Star: You’ll begin articulating a long-term vision for our infrastructure that prioritizes developer joy, security, and radical automation.

The First 60 Days: Driving Velocity

  • Leveling Up DX: You’ll actively work with your DevOps teammates to ship improvements that make our developers’ lives easier, faster, and more creative.

  • Observability as an Intuition: You’ll begin overhauling our monitoring systems, moving us toward a world of real-time metrics where system health is visible at a glance.

  • The Vibe Coding Blueprint: You’ll research and test the foundational tools required to bring "vibe coding" to the entire organization, ensuring security and standards are baked in from the start.

The First 90 Days: Ownership & The Pilot Phase

  • Domain Authority: You are now the recognized lead for our Developer Experience and Monitoring initiatives, driving measurable improvements in how we build and observe.

  • Launching the Pilot: You’ll roll out our first "vibe coding" solution to a select pilot group, gathering feedback and proving that infrastructure can be both invisible and empowering.

  • Strategic Alignment: You’ll have a seat at the table with our Cyber-security team, ensuring our growth never comes at the expense of our safety.

By the End of Your First Year: A New Era of Productivity

  • The Productivity Multiplier: You will have successfully enabled "vibe coding" across all departments, leading to a significant increase in global company productivity.

  • Predictive Stability: Our monitoring is no longer reactive. We can now anticipate most potential issues before they impact a single user.

  • The Enhanced Developer: Our engineering team is now equipped with a world-class DX ecosystem that has boosted their individual productivity significantly, allowing them to spend more time innovating and less time "setting up testing environment."
