About the Role:

As a Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing the financial statements for a range of operating and corporate entities, initially based in the UK, but with potential to soon be across other European countries. You will own the Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow Statement for the entities/properties allocated to you, and have direct ownership of the local compliance efforts, including timely VAT, tax and regulatory financial statement filings.

In this role, you'll contribute to the global Finance Team's efforts to lead the company to a more streamlined and controlled operation as it grows rapidly. You will be a critical member of the Finance team, and have broad exposure across all areas of the business as you work with the various business segments and will share the responsibility to ensure all financial statements are timely, accurate, and fit for purpose. Your work will be vital to helping us scale into an international brand that transforms the way work is done.

The role is based in London and will report to the Accounting Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the month-end close process and complete Bank Reconciliations for certain entities.
  • Prepare journal entries to be reviewed by supervisor (accruals, reclasses, ACH payments, bank fees, professional services, etc.)
  • Review invoices and expense reports in the accounts payable system, Coupa.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Provide leadership to the accounting operations and financial reporting function by helping to build, streamline, automate and continuously improve processes and controls.
  • Execute daily and monthly functions to support the department in accurately processing accounting transactions in accordance with both local accounting standards and US GAAP
  • Complete periodic VAT and other tax filing requirements and liaise with relevant authorities as appropriate.
  • Review the P&L and complete variance analyses to understand and communicate on the operating results of units and corporate entities
  • Coordinate and provide finance guidance to local operations teams.
  • Provide support to the supervisor and accounting leadership, as needed.
  • Prepare local financial reports for statutory financial reporting, and support audit engagements, including providing supporting documentation.
  • Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, participating in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analyses, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Professional Accounting qualification preferred e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • English speaking and writing fluency required. Other European languages, especially German or French a plus
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in accounting related functions
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite
  • Experience with real estate accounting or intercompany transactions is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with management, vendors, colleagues and members
  • Strong analytical disposition with high attention to detail, accuracy and organization
  • Creative thinker and problem solver

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills set
