What You'll Do
In this role, you will build on our existing innovations and be responsible for the development of our software that directly controls how we perform massage techniques.
Lead a team of controls engineers in the design, development, and testing of safety-critical & highly performant software in a real-time environment
Design novel controllers, adaptive features, and safety functionality for robots that are in active contact with people maximizing for both the quality & robustness of the user experience
Create and maintain a technical roadmap, determining key needs, relative priorities, and assignment of tasks.
Drive collaboration with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Lead development of simulation and testing capabilities that compliment real-world tests.
Lead team members through hands on engineering mentorship to achieve their full potential
Work with key vendors to ensure performance guarantees and improve APIs.
Lead code reviews and ensure the delivery of high quality, optimized, production-ready code
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies in robotics, control theory, and simulation.

What You’ll Bring
BS, MS, or PhD in control theory, robotics, computer science, mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
3 plus years leading medium-sized software teams developing production grade software within an Agile framework
2 plus years experience as a Principal/Staff or Lead Software Robotics Controls engineer
Experience deploying and supporting robots in production environments (ideally unstructured or semi-structured environments with significant variability)
Proven ability to write highly testable, optimized code appropriate for a safety-critical, real-time environment
Significant knowledge of robotics controls algorithms, DSP, simulation, and other relevant technologies
Exemplary attention to detail, system design knowledge, and ability to root cause issues
Executional excellence and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Developed understanding of data structures and algorithms. Ability to writing clean code, leveraging appropriate design patterns, and leveraging engineering best practices
Nice-to-have, but not required
Familiarity with robotics and control systems standards (e.g. ISO 10218, ISO 13849, etc.)
Experience working with medical devices or in a regulated industry
Subject matter expertise in real-time system configuration, networking, and knowledge low-level communications protocols
Prior experience with contact-based manipulation algorithms & approaches

A competitive pay + equity plan, the salary range for the role is $165,000 - $210,000 plus bonus
